Affirming Abundance

Another step toward financial serenity is taking on a “Silent Partner” with a vested interest in your prosperity.  This is done through tithing: returning a portion of your wealth to the work of Spirit.  When you tithe, you acknowledge and honour the true Source of your supply.  Tithing is an ancient spiritual tradition and a universal prosperity law used by the great wealthy civilizations–Egyptians, Babylonians, Chinese, Greeks, and Romans - to ensure abundance.

Unless you were raised in a spiritual tradition that honours tithing, such as Judaism and Mormonism, you may be unfamiliar with the practice and what it involves.

Understanding how tithing works metaphysically helps skeptics become more open to the ways in which its practice can enrich our lives.  Spiritual law, no matter which path, tells us as we give, so shall we receive.  We realize that money is a form of energy.  Energy does not increase if it’s hoarded.  Energy must circulate freely for power to be released.  When we receive an increase in money in our lives, giving away a portion of that money keeps the channels of abundance circulating freely, as Spirit intended.

On a practical level, tithing allows us to express our thanksgiving with action.  Returning some of the material good we receive is a tangible demonstration of trust.  But also, tithing changes our attitudes about money.  We become expectant, anticipating the best.  We’ve kept our part of the bargain.  Now that we are givers, we can ready ourselves to receive.

Tithing will make you more magnetic to money, whether you believe it or not.  The mechanics of tithing involve taking one-tenth of all the money you receive-from earnings, gifts, or interest on savings and investments-and regularly donating it to the church, temple, mosque, or other Spiritual organization that inspires, uplifts, and encourages your personal growth.  Each person should consult their own heart when tithing to their spiritual source.

My experience with tithing on the Simple Abundance path has been erratic but amazing.  When I tithe, I experience more financial serenity than when I don’t.  The money seems to stretch further or my expenses diminish.  When I tithe I am able to save more with ease, and new moneymaking/earning opportunities arrive, often unsolicited.  The floodgates of Heaven do shower me with blessings, although I’ve not yet reached the point at which I can’t find room for more.

When I don’t tithe, I’m not struck down, but I do start to worry about money.  There seem to be longer stretches between bank deposits and more unexpected expenses, which always end up costing me more than the amount my tithe would have been.  So I know it’s time to write a cheque.  Wait and watch what happens.  Very quickly, the ebb recedes and the flow begins again.  Coincidence?

Some people say if you don’t have much money to spare, it’s just as good to tithe your time or goods.  It’s been my discovery that when I tithe time, I receive more time.  When I tithe goods, I receive gifts.  If I want more money in my life, I tithe money.

When we’re in great financial straits, we think we can’t afford to tithe.  But when our financial needs are great, can we afford not to try tithing?  Or we tell ourselves that if we ever get to a point in our life at which money is not an issue, we’ll be generous giver.  I have no doubt.  But money will cease to be an issue only when we relax about it.  Affirming our abundance now, by becoming generous givers, dramatically demonstrates our prosperity to the doubter within.  Let your authentic self convince him/her and see what happens.

At the Centre for Inspired Living we pray affirmatively. An affirmative prayer is a statement of spiritual Truth with which we align ourselves. As we hold these affirmations in our minds and hearts, they begin to work in our everyday lives. All of these affirmations can be used for ourselves and/or for others. 

Addictions The powerful Christ Light within me burns off all former desires for any substance or habit that interferes with my life. I am free to accept my highest good now.

Animal Blessing My pet is a beloved creation of God; s/he is surrounded in light, protection and love always.

Animal Passing Your beloved pet now lives in the eternal protection of Divine Love. Her/his spirit lives on forever.

Child Blessing This child is God’s perfect creation. S/he is loved, protected, and guided to her/his highest good.

Companionship and Drawing a Mate I am God’s radiating being of love; as I give unconditional love, I receive unconditional love.

Employment My right and perfect job/career is waiting for me; I draw to myself the employment that will allow me to be creative, successful and prosperous; I am a blessing to those I serve as well.

The right and perfect employee for this work is revealed and made known to me/us; s/he is loving, wise, talented, committed, and a blessing to everyone through this work.

Faith and Assurance I am filled with the Divine Assurance that God loves and cares for me; I fully accept all the good that God has waiting for me.

I have faith that my (healing/prosperity/success) is here now; God reveals my next step to me.

There is no doubt that you live in a universe that loves, supports and blesses you; you are a spiritual being living in a spiritual universe governed by spiritual law.

Forgiveness I forgive you freely and fully for anything I perceived you have done to me; as a spiritual being my pure essence can never be hurt, damaged or destroyed.

I let the healing flow of God’s love melt any discord, animosity or hatred between this child of God and me. Divine order and peace are established now.

As I release you to God, I know that I am forgiven for any and everything I have ever done to another child of God.

I forgive myself for anything I may continue to hold in my heart contrary to the unconditional love of God expressing. I let myself off the hook for my actions that were less than loving or kind.

If you could have done better, you would have done better. The light of God’s love and wisdom powerfully flow through you and your actions reflect the loving child of God that you are.

Guidance I am guided by Divine Love and Wisdom; I know what to do and I know how to do it.

All information needed to bring forth the Divine Plan for success in my life is being revealed as I require it. I move forward with God’s ideas and I am prospered, healed and blessed in every way.

I listen to God in my heart and I proceed confidently in the direction of my complete good.
I have faith that God’s unfailing Truth is guiding me to all I need and desire.

Let there be light.

Harmony between two or more people or groups The harmonious, peaceful spirit of Divine Love is now present and at work in your minds and hearts. No animosity, contentiousness or division exists in you.

Justice Divine Justice is at work in this (situation, trial, legal matter); God’s light, order and balance reveals the Truth to all concerned, and all is well.

Order Divine Order is at work in my life; all is right with my world.

All is orderly and perfectly revealed; God is at work and in charge of my life.

I am centered and poised in the perfect unfolding of all good. I let go and let God reveal my next step.

Peace The peace of God is always here within me regardless of the situation. I am serene, calm and at peace concerning my life.

God is your peace; you are centered and relaxed regarding all things, all people, and all circumstances.

Peace, be still.

Be still, and know that God loves and cares for you; you are the beloved, precious creation of your Father-Mother God.

Pregnancy My body is a holy temple of Spirit; I am receptive and ready to nurture, protect, and care for my holy child of love.

Property - selling/buying The right buyer/seller is coming forth now. This property and neighbourhood is blessed to have the perfect owner in this place. A fair and generous price is offered and accepted joyfully and gratefully.

Sleep There are no blocks to my healing sleep time. I let go of any worries, strains and concerns to God within; I am renewed and restored.

Transitions/Peaceful Passing God is the protecting, never-ending love of your life.

Your eternal soul is safe and sound in God’s loving care; as you release fear and concern, you are filled with the light and peace of Spirit.

There is no end to life; you are an eternal being of God, and you will “dwell in the house of God forever.”

Thanksgiving Thank you, God.

I thank God for all the good I have, all the good coming to me now, and all the good unfolding in my life. I am grateful.

Prayer for Success 

Today is a new day, a new beginning.

It has been given to me as a new gift.

I can either use it or throw it away.

What I do today will affect me tomorrow.

I cannot blame anyone but myself if I do not succeed.

I promise to use this day to the fullest

By giving my best, realizing it can never come back again.

This is my life and I choose to make it a success!

A Prayer for Humanity

Please help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night
is a single mother who  worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner,
help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.
 
Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can’t make
change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension
over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.
 
Remind us, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day
(who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions that
we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.

Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles
and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that, based on
the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be
the last year that they go shopping together .

Please remind us each day to remember all the gifts we have been given,
and especially of the greatest gift of all, which of course is the gift of love.
It is not enough to share love with those we hold dear. It is important to remember
to open our hearts and not just to those that are close to us, but to all of humanity.

Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.

“What does it mean to believe in God and embrace that Divine Presence? 

It means you will stumble at times, forgetting what you want, doubting that you will receive, and sometimes falling headfirst into the same old habits and beliefs. 

Fear not!  That is to be expected.  When you challenge the old ways with new ways, the old ways will fight you tooth and nail.  Always remember to be patient and loving with yourself and others because that is what God does all the time.  There will be moments when fear or anger will overtake you, cut your breath off, and make your head spin. 

The fear of losing control, of being weird, or giving up (what seems) the familiar and comfortable for what is surely to be unfamiliar and uncomfortable.  A Mentor once told me, “when you are comfortable, you are not growing!”  If you want to grow into a divine space in life, you must breathe (Ahhhhhhh!) and keep moving forward.

Rest assured there will be times when you fall flat on your face.  It will seem as if the harder you pray, the more you attempt to trust, the more holy and devout you become, the worse your life will appear to be.  Things that were going well will go wrong.  Things that were not going so well will blow up in your face.  It is a trick!  Do not be fooled by appearances! 

Hold on to the words, the phrase, the prayer, the little bits of trust and faith you can muster.  You are not being tested!  You ARE being fortified!  Remember, you cannot fail!  All paths lead to the same road.  The road to peace, joy, and the memory of God’s unconditional love.

Why you ask would you want to take the journey? Why would you look for God when you were doing just fine? You area making it on what you know, what you have learned.   Why would God help you now?  And what’s in it for you? I have asked myself these questions of myself many, many, many times.  I have found many answers. 

Some of the answers emerged from the old school, the old belief system that kept me in fear and confusion.  If I didn’t go to God, He would someday come to “get me”!  There were many times I tried desperately to convince myself to believe.  God is good!  God knows best!  Even with this in my arsenal, when things did not go the way I thought they should go, I became angry and frightened. 

The one answer to all of my questions that has stuck with me the longest and made the greatest impression has been, “God is as dependent on you as you are on God!”  The Creator of the universe, the divine energy of life needs me to demonstrate the goodness S/He has in store for all people.  “I am the light of the world,”  and God wants me to shine in the glory of this knowledge. 

God believes that I can do it.  When it is put to me this way I figure I had very little to lose and everything in the world to gain.  with a little Faith, Trust and effort, I know you will discover that the same is true for you.”
